Administrative Division- Capt. Jeffrey Briel Division Commander
The Administrative Division is under the command of Capt. Jeffrey Briel. Within the Administrative Division are the Detective Bureau and the
Support Services Bureau. The Administrative Division handles much of the behind the scene operations within the department. They investigate all of the crimes that occur within our jurisdiction,
keep track of all motor vehicle accidents and impounded vehicles, and the IT/Training bureau keeps the department up to date with all of the new computer programs and services that are evolving
at an incredible rate.
Detective Bureau
The Detective Bureau handles all investigations, firearms background checks, Megan law offender registry, etc. We also have a Juvenile Detective Bureau, which deals mainly with juvenile matters as well as the School Resource Officer position which is located at the Scotch Plains Fanwood High School.
Support Services Bureau
The Support Services Bureau is made up of the Records Department, Communications, Computer/IT Bureau, as well as the Traffic Bureau.
OPRA Requests (Send to Town Clerk's Office)
OPRA requests are to be sent to the Township Clerk's office. The Township Clerk is designated as the 'Custodian of Government Record' for the Township of Scotch Plains.
