Records Bureau

The Records Bureau’s main responsibilities are to securely store, retrieve, distribute and dispose of police reports. Police reports consist of investigation reports, property reports, supplement reports, vehicular accidents, arrests, and miscellaneous incident reports. All reports are assigned a "case number" and are maintained numerically.
The Records Bureau's front counter is open to the public Monday through Friday 8:30a.m. to 4:00p.m. Reports can be picked up during these hours. Reports or request for reports can be taken in person or by mail, but not by faxes. It is suggested, however, that you call before requesting a report to confirm that the report has been received in the Records Bureau and the exact cost of receiving a copy of same. Please provide as much information as possible when requesting a copy of a report, i.e. case number. If the case number is not known, the records division can search for the report by a name of parties involved, date, location or type of incident.

Any extensive search inquiry (defined herein to mean any police search inquiry involving matters other than material contained within the Department’s computer system or material available for immediate distribution for existing police records) shall be charged in accordance with the following schedule:

1 - Initial Search Fee:
Covering all work through the first three (3) hours for the extensive search inquiry by the agency personne

2 - Additional Fee:
A charge which reflects the prevailing overtime rate for a fourth year patrol officer shall be charged for each hour beyond the initial three hours devoted to the to the extensive search inquiry. No proportion shall be made for less than a full hour of additional fees on any extensive search inquiry.

The fee per page for the final analysis shall be reflective of the fee charged for regular police reports

Review of Accident Reports
The viewing or reviewing of reports or photographs of accident reports shall be permitted and conducted at police headquarters daily, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
